Nancy C. Bean, 74, of Cogan Station, passed peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital. Surviving is her loving husband of 55 years, William J. Bean.
Born June 27, 1943, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Marian (Smith) Waltz.
Nancy was a member of St. Paul-Calvary United Methodist Church, where she was very active throughout the years. She retired from the lab at the Cancer Treatment Center at Divine Providence Hospital and previously had worked in the lab at the Williamsport Hospital for more than 30 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and bird watching. Her pride and joy was her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a daughter, Laura R. (Robert) Hess, of Cogan Station; two sons, William N. (Karen) Bean, of Cogan Station and Scott J. (Denise) Bean, of McElhattan; seven grandchildren, Nathaniel Hess, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Molly and Abigail Hess, of Cogan Station, Samantha (Matthew) Wilkerson, of Fairfield, Ohio, Andrew (Lily) Bean, of Bellefonte, Matthew and Hunter Bean, of McElhattan; and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Fisher.
A memorial service to honor the life of Nancy will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16, at St. Paul-Calvary U.M.C., 1427 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, with the Rev. Jennett Wertz, officiating. A viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 15 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
Burial will be held privately in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
