Margaret Jean Nyhart Smith, 93, of Montoursville and formerly of Palmetto, Fla., died Sunday Jan. 7, 2018, at UPMC Susquehanna.
Born Oct. 5, 1924, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Jay L. and Floy Sweetland Nyhart.
Margaret was a graduate of the University of Buffalo. She was a water color artist and also enjoyed gardening, sewing and genealogy. Margaret attended GAP Fellowship.
Surviving are her children, Robin S. Leidhecker, of Montoursville, Lee R. (Lynn) Smith, of Williamsport, Boyd R. (Constance) Smith, of State College; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Lawson, of Buffalo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Russ" Smith.
A memorial service to honor the life of Margaret will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at GAP Fellowship, corner of Maynard and Third streets with Pastor Gary Runtas, officiating.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
