Jerry L. Carnevale, 94, of Williamsport, died peacefully Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home.

Born August 4, 1923 in Williamsport, he was a son of Dominic and Lucy (Mercante) Carnevale. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Dorothy A. (Harrison) Carnevale in 2004, four brothers Joseph, Peter, John, and Frank Carnevale.

Jerry was a U.S Navy Veteran of 22 years, and served during WWII and the Korean War. He served on the USS Dobin during Pearl Harbor, and continued to serve in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Following his military career he was employed as a welder at Kellogg’s and retired from Pullman Power. He was a 56 year member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 520. Jerry was an avid NASCAR and the New York Yankees fan. He enjoyed helping build sprint cars and would go to Selinsgrove Speedway to watch his cars. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish and the Republican League, Newberry.

Surviving are two children Karen A. Potter of Williamsport, and Stephen D. Carnevale (Mary) of Williamsport, four grandchildren Rachel Potter (Gerard), Kate Baker (Kevin), Shannon Potter, and Ethan Carnevale, nine great grandchildren Ciaran, Alicia, Sarah, Seth, Jordan, Zach, Sydney, Raegan, and Jenavieve, three great great grandchildren Ryland, Aberdeen, and Ellie, two sisters Helen Allgaier of Annapolis, MD, and Virginia Marchese of Williamsport, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 10, at Sanders Mortuary 821 Diamond St. Williamsport.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 11, at Wildwood Cemetery with military honors.
