Jane L. George, 93, of Williamsport, died Sunday February 12, 2017 at Manor Care North, Williamsport.

Born September 26th 1923 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late J. Kelly and Ruth (Peoples) Smouse. 

Jane was a 1941 graduate of Williamsport High School and had attended Dickinson College. She had worked as an aid School of Hope. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Williamsport where she was active in many church activities and sang in the choir for over 75 years. Jane enjoyed traveling, camping, and fishing.

Surviving are her husband Charles E. George, Jr., whom she married July 17, 1948 and shared 68 years of wonderful times together, a son C. Steven George and wife Mary of Williamsport, and  two grandchildren Jessica A. George and Meghan E. George.

She was preceded in death by her brother John “Jack” Kelley Smouse, Jr.

A funeral service to honor the life of Jane will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2233 Linn St. Williamsport. Burial will be held in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at church.
